Week 1
Introduction — Why Kids Need Boundaries
Read the Introduction of Boundaries with Kids. Key Scripture: Proverbs 22:6; Hebrews 12:5–11.
1.Cloud and Townsend open with a frank observation: many children today struggle with entitlement, impulsivity, and an inability to delay gratification. Did that description resonate with anything you see in your own children or in children around you? What emotions did that stir up?
2.The authors define a boundary as "a property line that defines where you end and someone else begins." In your own words, what does that mean in the context of parenting? How is that different from the word 'rule'?
3.Cloud and Townsend argue that children are not born with character — they develop it through experience, particularly through experiencing the consequences of their choices. How does that challenge or confirm the way you were raised, or the way you are currently raising your children?
