Week 1
Introduction — Freed to Be Free
Read the Introduction of Breaking Free by Beth Moore. Primary Scripture: Isaiah 61:1–3; John 8:36.
1.Moore opens with a striking observation: many Christians are saved but not free — they have a ticket out of Egypt but are still living as though they're in Pharaoh's household. Does that image resonate with your own experience? Why or why not?
2.She defines a 'stronghold' as a negative thinking pattern so deeply embedded in our minds that it influences how we see God, ourselves, and others. In your own words, what is the difference between a sin struggle and a stronghold?
3.Moore introduces the five 'benefits of covenant relationship' that captivity steals. List the five benefits from the introduction.
a.Which of these five feels most distant or elusive in your own walk with God right now?
b.Which feels most present? What do you think accounts for the difference?
