Week 1
Introduction — Lifting the Hood
Read the Introduction and Author's Note of For Women Only.
1.Feldhahn describes how this book grew out of a personal moment of realization — a conversation that made her feel she didn't understand her own husband as well as she thought. Has there been a moment in your own life when you realized a man you're close to was experiencing something you had completely missed? What was that like?
2.Feldhahn surveyed hundreds of men for this project. Why do you think she felt surveys and interviews — rather than simply talking to her own husband — were necessary? What does that methodology tell you about the nature of what she was trying to uncover?
3.The introduction suggests that most women are operating on assumptions about men that are simply incorrect — not because they're foolish, but because men rarely articulate these inner experiences. How does that idea land with you? Does it feel freeing, challenging, or both?
