Week 1
Introduction — Our Approach to God's Will
Read the Introduction of Just Do Something. Key passages to consider: Proverbs 3:5–6; Romans 12:1–2.
1.DeYoung opens by describing a generation of young Christians who are stuck — unable to commit to a church, a career, a city, or a relationship because they are waiting for God's clear direction. How much do you recognize yourself or people you know in that description?
2.The publisher description says that God's plan for our lives is already revealed: to love Him, obey His Word, and after that, 'do what we like.' Does that statement strike you as liberating, alarming, or both? Why?
3.DeYoung distinguishes between God's sovereign will (what He has decreed will happen), His moral will (what He has commanded in Scripture), and His individual will (a specific blueprint for each person's life). Which of these three categories do most Christians seem to be most focused on when they talk about 'finding God's will'?
