Week 1
Session 1 — The Beginning
Complete Session 1 of Seamless. Key passages: Genesis 1–3; John 1:1–5.
1.Angie opens Seamless by addressing the insecurity many people feel about the Bible — the sense that everyone else seems to understand it except them. Be honest: on a scale of 1–10, how confident do you feel navigating Scripture? What has contributed to that number, positively or negatively?
2.The word 'seamless' is central to the study's premise. In your own words, what does Angie mean when she says the Bible is a seamless story? What would change about the way you read Scripture if you truly believed that?
3.Genesis 1 opens with God speaking creation into existence — light, sky, sea, land, and living creatures — and calling it 'good.' What does the act of speaking creation into being reveal about the nature and character of God? How does John 1:1–5 deepen your understanding of who was present at creation?
a.What does it mean that Jesus is described as the Word through whom all things were made?
b.How does this shape the way you think about Jesus' role in the Old Testament?
