Week 1
Introduction — The Battle in Your Head
Read the Introduction of Tame Your Thoughts. Key Scripture: Romans 12:2; 2 Timothy 1:7.
1.Lucado opens with a vivid picture of waking up to a "swirl of anxious, out-of-control thoughts." How accurately does that image describe your own experience? What kinds of thoughts tend to greet you first thing in the morning?
2.The book's central claim is that "the way we think directly impacts our joy and peace." Do you find this easy or hard to believe? Why might some people resist the idea that they have real agency over their thought lives?
3.Lucado draws on both neuroscience and Scripture to make his case. Why do you think he brings science into a biblical argument? Does that pairing make the message more or less compelling to you?
