Week 1
Introduction — The Battle Is in Your Mind
Read the Introduction of Winning the War in Your Mind. Key Scriptures: Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 10:3–5.
1.Groeschel opens with a brutally honest confession about his own destructive thought patterns and the shame spiral they created. Were you surprised by that level of vulnerability from a pastor? What did it stir up in you?
2.He introduces the core premise early: "Our lives are always moving in the direction of our strongest thoughts." Do you believe that? Think of one area of your life right now — your relationships, your work, your faith — and ask yourself: what thoughts have been pulling it in its current direction?
3.Groeschel frames the Christian life as a war, not a negotiation. How does that framing sit with you? Does it feel empowering, exhausting, or something else — and why?
