Discussion Questions
8 questions1.Guthrie argues that a robust theology of the new creation is not escapist — it is the most practical and world-engaging thing a Christian can have. After reading the whole book, do you agree? How has your sense of what makes a Christian 'practical' or 'relevant' shifted?
2.Romans 8:18 says the sufferings of this present time 'are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.' Having traced nine themes of that glory through the whole Bible, does Paul's confidence feel more grounded to you now than it did before? Why or why not?
3.2 Peter 3:11–12 asks: 'Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness?' How does the certainty of the new creation — not just the end of this one — drive the pursuit of holiness in a way that fear of judgment alone might not?
