Fervent by Priscilla Shirer
Week 12: Building Your War Room
Read the closing chapters and the War Room/Prayer Strategy sections of Fervent by Priscilla Shirer. Key Scriptures: Luke 18:1-8; Colossians 4:2.
Priscilla doesn't just want you to think differently about prayer — she wants you to *do* something: to build a designated place and a disciplined practice of fervent, targeted, written prayer. These questions help you move from inspiration to implementation.
Discussion Questions
7 questions1.Priscilla urges readers to designate a physical prayer space — a "war room" — where they can pray specifically and persistently. What is your reaction to that idea? Does it feel motivating, impractical, or somewhere in between?
2.The parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18:1-8 is one of the anchor texts for this section. Jesus told it specifically so that "they ought always to pray and not lose heart." Where in your prayer life have you lost heart — given up on something you once prayed for?
3.Colossians 4:2 instructs us to "continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving." What does *watchful* prayer look like — how do you pray with attentive expectation rather than rote repetition?
a.What practices — journaling, writing prayers, praying Scripture — have helped you stay alert and specific in prayer?
b.What practices have you tried and found don't work for your personality or season? (There is no one-size-fits-all.)
