2.The authors note that postmodernism grew partly as a reaction to abuses of power that hid behind claims of objective truth — colonialism, for instance, often justified itself with high-sounding appeals to civilization and progress. How does understanding that historical context help us engage postmodernists more charitably, even while disagreeing with their conclusions?
