Lord, we come to the end of this study as Brother Lawrence came to the end of his life — not having arrived, but having been shown the way. You have given us, in this book, the testimony of a crippled cook whose kitchen became a chapel and whose sandal shop became a sanctuary. Thank You. For what has taken root in us during these weeks, we give You thanks. For what has not yet taken hold — for the wandering thoughts, the forgotten intentions, the hours we have spent at a distance from You — we ask Your mercy. We do not ask to be delivered from the difficulty of this practice. We ask for the grace to begin again, today, with love. You are near. You are nearer than we are aware. Let us not leave You alone. Amen.
