7 questions1.Bridges argues that trust is a decision, not just a feeling. We can choose to trust God even when we do not feel like it, and over time those choices reshape our hearts. Do you agree that trust is volitional? What has been your experience — does the decision precede the feeling, or does it work the other way?
2.Lamentations 3:19–24 shows the writer choosing to recall God's steadfast love in the middle of active grief: 'This I call to mind, and therefore I have hope.' What is the deliberate, cognitive act Bridges identifies here? How is it different from pretending pain doesn't exist?
3.Psalm 62:8 says 'Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him.' Bridges holds these two things together — pouring out our hearts honestly and trusting God at all times. How do they fit together without canceling each other out?
