1.The Benedictine vow of stability required monks to remain in a single monastery for life — to be known, corrected, and formed by the same community over decades. How does this vow strike you initially? Does it feel like a prison or a gift — or some uncomfortable mixture of both?

2.Warren acknowledges that Americans are among the most mobile people in history — we change jobs, cities, and churches at unprecedented rates, often in search of something better. How much of your own mobility has been genuine wisdom, and how much might have been acedia's restless whisper (from Chapter 2) in disguise?

3.She argues that genuine formation requires being known by people who have watched you long enough to see through your self-presentation — people who know your patterns, your blind spots, your recurring sins. Do you have people like that in your life? If not, what prevents you from cultivating those relationships?
