Week 1: Introduction — Becoming Love

1.Bob's books are built on the conviction that love is something you become, not just something you do. In your own words, what do you think he means by that distinction, and why does it matter?

2.From the very start, Goff is clear that loving 'everybody, always' is not a self-help formula — it's a description of how Jesus loves us. How does grounding this idea in Jesus change the stakes of the challenge?

3.Bob describes himself as someone who learned most of what he knows about love the hard way — through failure, awkwardness, and showing up imperfectly. Does that make his invitation feel more or less accessible to you? Why?

4.The title Everybody, Always draws a wide circle. When you first read those two words, who — honestly — did your mind go to as someone who would be hard to include in that circle?

5.Goff sets up the whole book around the idea that fear is what keeps us from loving freely. What kinds of fear do you think most often stop you from loving difficult people?

6.1 Corinthians 13 is the backdrop for much of this book's vision of love. Read verses 4–8 aloud together. Which word or phrase in that passage feels most out of reach in your current relationships, and why?

7.If someone who knows you well read this book, would they say your life already looks like 'everybody, always' — or would they say there are some obvious exceptions? What would be the most honest answer you could give?
