1.Isaiah 61 is the passage Jesus reads in the synagogue in Luke 4 to announce the beginning of His ministry. Moore argues that every element of that passage — good news to the poor, binding up the brokenhearted, proclaiming liberty to captives — is meant to describe the *normal* Christian life, not merely exceptional revivals or mountaintop experiences. Does that claim feel too ambitious to you? Why or why not?

2.Moore describes the 'oil of joy instead of mourning' and the 'garment of praise instead of a spirit of heaviness' (Isaiah 61:3) as direct replacements God makes — He substitutes something good for something broken. Reflect on an area of your life where God has already made such a substitution. What did He replace, and what did He give you instead?

3.She uses the phrase 'rebuilding ancient ruins' (Isaiah 61:4) to describe the restorative work God does in areas of our lives that have been devastated by years of captivity. What are the 'ancient ruins' in your life that you most need God to rebuild?
