1.Shirer draws on Elijah's experience at Mount Horeb to illustrate that God's voice often comes not in the wind, earthquake, or fire — the dramatic and spectacular — but in the still small voice. What does this tell us about how we should position ourselves to hear God? Are you naturally a person who looks for the dramatic or the quiet?

2.One of the key markers of God's tone that Shirer highlights is that it is never condemning. Romans 8:1 declares there is "no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." How do you distinguish between the Holy Spirit's *conviction* (which draws you toward God) and the enemy's *condemnation* (which drives you into shame)? What does each feel like in your experience?

3.Shirer describes God's voice as authoritative but gentle — it invites rather than bullies, leads rather than shoves. Think of a time you felt pressured to make a decision quickly, with urgency that felt more like panic than peace. Looking back, what was the source of that pressure, and was it from God?
