Week 1: Introduction — The Investigation Begins

1.Strobel describes himself as a former atheist who used science as a reason *not* to believe in God. What assumptions did he bring into his investigation at the start — and why do you think someone might assume that science and faith are enemies?

2.The book is framed as a legal-style investigation: following the evidence wherever it leads. Why is that approach important when dealing with a question as big as the existence of God? What would it mean for *you* to follow the evidence honestly, even if it surprised you?

3.Strobel interviews credentialed scientists rather than simply quoting the Bible. Why do you think he structures the book that way? What does that tell you about the audience he's writing for and the argument he wants to make?

4.Have you ever felt tension between what you're taught in school (about evolution, the Big Bang, or natural origins) and what you believe or have been told at church? Describe that tension. How have you handled it so far?
