Discussion Questions
7 questions1.The relationship between Lowen and Jeremy is formalized by the novel's end. How do you feel about that outcome? Does it feel earned, troubling, romantic, convenient — or some combination of all of these?
2.Lowen has, by the end, burned the letter Verity wrote. What is the significance of that act? What is she protecting — Jeremy, herself, Crew, the life she wants — and does destroying evidence feel like a resolution or an evasion?
3.Crew is still in the house at the end of the novel, living with Lowen and Jeremy. Given everything that has happened and everything that remains unresolved about his own childhood and what he may have witnessed, what kind of future do you imagine for him? What responsibility does Lowen bear toward him?
