Discussion Questions

7 questions

1.The title of Part Four comes from Meyer's challenge to her readers: before you can change what you think, you must first think about what you're thinking about. Have you ever taken a day to audit your dominant thought patterns? What do you imagine you would find?

2.Philippians 4:8 gives eight categories of thoughts that are worth dwelling on: true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, praiseworthy. Meyer treats these not as abstract ideals but as a practical checklist. Walk through each category: which ones are already present in your thinking? Which ones are most absent?

a.Which of the eight qualities is hardest for you to apply to how you think about yourself?

b.Which is hardest to apply in how you think about difficult people in your life?

3.Meyer challenges readers to apply Philippians 4:8 as a 'thought test' before letting a thought take root. She asks: Is this thought true? Is it producing good fruit in me? Describe a recent thought you had that would not pass this test. What should you have thought instead?
