8 questions1.Vroegop identifies four movements in the structure of a biblical lament: turn, complain, ask, and trust. Walk through Psalm 13 together and identify where each movement appears. Which movement surprised you most when you saw it in the text?
2.The first movement of lament is to "turn" — to address God directly rather than spiraling inward or outward. Why is this act of turning so important? What is the difference between turning to God with your pain and simply talking to yourself (or others) about your pain?
3.The "complaint" movement in lament can feel almost too bold — the psalmists accuse God of forgetting, hiding, and sleeping. How do you reconcile this kind of raw, confrontational prayer with a reverent posture toward God? Does it encourage or unsettle you to know that God inspired these words as Scripture?
