Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst
Week 7: Chapter 6 — The Remedy for Feeling Forgotten
Read Chapter 6 of Uninvited. Key Scripture: Isaiah 49:15–16 ("Can a mother forget the baby at her breast?…I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.")
One of rejection's cruelest tricks is making us feel forgotten — not just by people, but by God. Lysa brings the tender, fierce promise of Isaiah 49 to bear on that specific wound.
Discussion Questions
7 questions1.Lysa describes the particular pain of feeling forgotten — not dramatically rejected, but simply not thought of, not included, not remembered. Have you ever experienced that specific flavor of rejection? What made it so painful?
2.God uses the image of a nursing mother to describe His inability to forget His children. Why is that specific image — a mother who cannot forget the child she is feeding — such a powerful counter to the feeling of being overlooked?
3.Then God says, "Even if she could forget, I will not forget you — I have engraved you on the palms of my hands." Many readers hear this through the lens of Christ's nail-scarred hands. How does that connection land for you emotionally, not just theologically?
