No man wins this battle alone. These chapters make the case for — and give shape to — the kind of accountability relationship that actually works, as distinct from the kind that sounds good but changes nothing.

Discussion Questions

7 questions

1.Proverbs 27:17 says, 'As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.' The authors argue that accountability is not optional — it is a structural necessity for the man who wants lasting purity. Have you had an accountability relationship in the past? What made it work or fail?

2.The book makes a distinction between accountability that is merely social (a scheduled check-in where you can choose to be vague) and accountability that has real teeth — where someone knows enough specifics to ask the right questions. Which kind have you experienced, and which kind are you willing to pursue?

3.Galatians 6:1-2 calls believers to 'restore gently' those caught in sin and to 'carry each other's burdens.' The tone of accountability the authors envision is not shaming or performance-monitoring but genuine brotherhood. What qualities would you want in an accountability partner? Where might you find that person?
